Two Poems

BY ELENA MINOR

SUNGRAZER

a scar on the water

is a dainty thing always

fresh cut and over
three apples are at the core

of a hardcore bite

into a toothless grin
leaden blackbirds take off

their feathers for no one

or a fly-by-night convention
a lowlife provider catches on

a crystal plate of ripe cheese and stumbles

its wait for provisional wellness
the legacy of wool lets fall

the fabric tears before it settles

into tough gabardine weave
long members sling the sayer

dead heat to exhaust

piped dreams welded under colder fire

LIGHT TRAVELING AT THE SPEED OF CREATION

Time and motion

amplification of string theory

inconstancy of ceded desire
Speed and distance

evanescence of irregular particles

color found in serrated darkness
Points and jamb lines

emblazoned trails on spotted cusp

zigzag edges with naked trim
Curve and spectrum

fissures on the broken waves

steam before the solemn burst
The molecule gathers its crusty atoms

and their elements and theirs,

spins rabidly to a tango bump and grind

slows … to a smooth languid rollover
… assumes the position.
N’est-ce pas?
