The Hippocratic Oath

BY JOANNA FUHRMAN

The sky was raining doctors with briefcases.  I didn’t  mind  and
even counted them as they fell from above. I was thankful that
tomorrow  always  arrived,  no  matter  who  I  fucked  or what
shade of orange  I wore to the store.  Really,  if it wasn’t for the
cow  strapped  under my  neck,  I wouldn’t  have complained at
all.

Joanna Fuhrman is the author of four books of poetry, most recently Pageant (Alice James 2009) and Moraine (Hanging Loose Press 2006). In 2011,Least Weasel Press published her chapbook, The Emotive Function. For more visit: Joannafuhrman.com
