Note from the Poetry Editors

BY LUCIA LOTEMPIO & SUZANNAH SPAAR

With our final farewell as we depart from Hot Metal Bridge, the two of us were often thinking about the murky business of endings and beginnings. We’ve been invigorated by the energy of the poets and poems we’ve come into conversation with since we began as readers, and the vibrations of verb and ecstatics of imagery that have struck us since. As Jody Chan writes in their “Elegy for the Pre-Packaged Pie”: “O sweetness, O sweetness, I taste you free.” We hope these poems pull you in with sweetness and spice alike. We hope they allow you to taste something new before they set you onwards to your day.
