Hexentanz

BY JOLEEN WESTERDALE

Bodies echo bodies, turn
in attitude—shadows tilt
sidelong, acrobatic. Backs
press backs, share weight,
fight gravity.
Anchored, axial fits
consume air until nothing
breathes or can breathe.
Mantras move walls:
grotesque witch-dance
burning before footlights.
