Two Poems

BY RUTH BAUMANN

Dream Interpretation: Glacier

A map drawn of the missing.
How a finger feels over the white space.

This is the shallow weight of the unforgivable.
You suspect it’s like being born.

Dream Interpretation: Cocaine

Take the sparseness of winter.
Take it by its too-human throat.

How a murmuration weighs heavy
on a psyche. The wings—
how within their leaving, loss
creates something to have lost.

God is catatonic / god is catatonic / god
won’t make you no deal.
